If you’re planning a family adventure vacation, you need to know how to pack so that you get the most items in a small amount of space. The reason you might need a small space for your belongings is dependent on where you are going. You might not have a lot of room if you are going whitewater rafting or hiking.
Wooded areas can sometimes seem dark, even in the middle of the day. Pack brightly colored clothing, especially for your children, to make it easier for you and others who are in the area to see them while walking. The bright colors can also help spot your children in crowded areas like amusement parks or shopping centers if you decide to venture out in the city while on vacation.
If you’re going to be in water, you need to have at least two pairs of shoes for each person. Wet shoes can sometimes hurt the feet and cause blisters, so while one pair is drying, each person will have another pair to wear. Flip flops are ideal if you plan on playing in a creek or going to a pool because they will be easy to take off before getting into the water.
Jeans Are Essential
Even if it’s the middle of summer, you need to have at least one pair of jeans. Not only will they help you stay warm on cool evenings that are spent in the woods, but they can also help keep off bugs while walking in the woods. If you plan on going out to eat, you can dress up the jeans with a nice shirt or pair of shoes.
Bags Of All Sizes
A suitcase is ideal, but you might want to consider taking your items in bags so that everything can be organized. One bag can be used for items to take near water while another can be used to keep your children’s belongings together. Make sure you have a small bag for toiletries and even one for snacks. Bags will help to keep everything sorted so that you don’t have to take a lot of items at one time when going to attractions or on your specific adventure.
While you’re outside all day or participating in adventures, like rafting or hiking, you need some kind of snack to maintain energy. Peanuts and granola bars are good to have as they contain protein. If you pack healthy snacks, you won’t have to spend a lot of money at restaurants. Keep the snacks in a bag that is waterproof so that they don’t get ruined.
Double Up On Clothes
When packing your clothes, try to pack items that you can wear on more than one occasion. A dress can be a comfortable item to wear on the beach, or you can wear it out to eat. You can even make a pair of shorts casual or dressy simply by wearing a different kind of shirt or shoes, such as a collared shirt for a nicer venture or a tank top for something more relaxed.
